The 2009 Fishing Season Gets Underway!
CRANBROOK – You know Spring is here when the days get warmer, the Canucks advance and the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. (FFSBC) starts stocking lakes and streams around the Kootenays with fish from the Kootenay Trout Hatchery.
On Friday, May 8th, the FFSBC will kickoff its annual stocking program by releasing 1,500 “catchable-sized” trout into New Lake in the heart of Cranbrook.
“We’ve got a very busy stocking program lined up this spring with over 110 lakes in the Kootenay area to stock” said Kootenay Trout Hatchery Manager, Doug Crawley. “Local anglers can expect to find great fishing opportunities in their own back yard and in the many rural lakes throughout the region.”
