Prince George gets new urban family fishery
Prince George anglers can now enjoy a great new fishing opportunity at Shane Lake in the heart of the city.

The Learn to Fish programs are free. Fishing licences are mandatory for people 16 and older. A one day licence for BC residents is $10. Moms can bring children five years and older to participate in Learn to Fish.

Who: Discover Fishing B.C.
Creating opportunities for people of all ages to fish across B.C. is what Discover Fishing BC – The Best There Is is all about. Launched in 2008, Discover Fishing BC is a province-wide campaign designed to assist lapsed and occasional anglers as well as people who have never fished before to get outside and experience fishing in B.C.
As part of the campaign, www.discoverfishingbc.ca is a free one-stop resource for individuals and families to learn about British Columbia’s year-round fishing opportunities. The website features thorough descriptions of some of the province’s abundant freshwater fishing sites, as well as driving directions and details on nearby amenities such as day-use areas, toilets, beaches, boat launches and camping. The website also offers information on obtaining a fishing licence and helpful ‘Learn to Fish’ programs offered throughout the province. Other features include an informative guide to B.C.’s many sport fish, equipment overviews, fishing methods, and handy printable brochures full of tips for those just starting out
to bring along in their tackle box.
